How-to-Tuesday: How to use Social Media to Build Backlinks

In yesterday’s Marketing Monday article we looked at how blogging and social sharing can help boost a company’s SEO and website ranking. Today we will delve a little deeper into this topic and focus mainly on how to use social media to build these backlinks which are extremely important to SEO.

Indeed, social media can be a powerful tool for generating backlinks to a company’s website or blog. Here are some ways to do this effectively:

Share Your Content

When you create a new blog post or other types of content, share it on your social media channels. If your content is useful, interesting, or entertaining, your followers are more likely to engage with it and share it with their own followers, which can result in new backlinks to your site. You can also use third-party groups, such as the Schools & Agents Facebook and LinkedIn groups to share your content with a similar audience.

Engage with Influencers

Look for influencers in your industry or niche who have large followings on social media. Schools & Agents is one such example. Engage with them by commenting on their posts, sharing their content, and tagging them in your own posts. If you can build a relationship with an influencer, they may be more likely to share your content with their followers, which can lead to new backlinks.

Participate in Online Communities

Join online communities related to your industry or niche on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. Participate in discussions, share your expertise, and provide helpful advice. By establishing yourself as a valuable community member, you can attract attention to your content and generate new backlinks.

Use Hashtags (on the right platform)

When used well, hashtags can help your content get discovered by people who are interested in your topic. Use relevant hashtags when you share your content on social media, and consider creating your own branded hashtag that people can use when they share your content. That way you improve your brand identity.

Create Shareable Content

The more shareable your content is, the more likely it is to generate backlinks. Create content that is visually appealing, easy to read, and provides value to your audience. Infographics, videos, and listicles are all types of content that are highly shareable on social media. Another thing that helps is generating stories and short content that includes a question or a quiz-like post. Who doesn’t like a little bit of competition?
